“Egypt is never the perfect destination, it is the place for multiplication where God will visit you and take you to the perfect destination” – Prophet Isaiah Macwealth
What if Egypt is not where your story ends, but where your calling begins? Joseph entered Egypt as a slave but became a saviour to his people. More often than you know, God plants us in strange places to reveal His glory. Egypt may be the very place where your next level is born. Let’s look at what Egypt represents in the Bible and how it relates to your life:
How to Recognize Your Egypt and Embrace God’s Purpose in It
1. Egypt Is a Place of Favour
“And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty.”– Exodus 3:21 (KJV)
You may feel surrounded by trouble, but be encouraged because even in tough places, God can make people and systems favour you.
2. Egypt Is a Place of Open Doors
“And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves. And Abimelech said unto Abraham, ‘What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?’ And he said, ‘For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well’. Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them.” – Genesis 21:28-33 (KJV)
God can use unexpected places to open doors. Do not be afraid of unfamiliar spaces because when God opens doors, He leads you to pathways that reposition you to receive His goodness.
3. Egypt Is a Place of Trauma
“And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known. Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.” – Exodus 2:14-15.
Like Moses, Egypt may be where you have had negative experiences But God uses painful moments to prepare you for destiny.
4. Egypt Is a Place of Preservation
“And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”– Genesis 45:4-5
Joseph was sold into Egypt, but it became the place that saved his family. The very things that have hurt you might later protect others through you.
5. Egypt Is a Place of Fruitfulness
“And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.”– Acts 7:7
Even in bondage, God caused His people to grow and multiply. He can make you thrive even in hard places.
6. Egypt Is a Place of Harvest
“And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number. And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him. And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house. And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”– Genesis 41:49-52
Joseph gathered food in Egypt that saved many lives, what seemed like a time of hardship became the foundation for a blessing that reached far beyond his own life.
7. Egypt Is a Place of Visitation
“And Joseph saw Ephraim’s children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph’s knees. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.”- Genesis 50:23-25
Before Joseph died, he reminded his family that God would visit them in Egypt. Be ready for your visitation from God where you are.
We trust this article has opened your eyes to the significance of Egypt and how to engage with your own Egypt. May the God who preserved, promoted, and prospered His people in Egypt do the same for you in every season of your journey.
