“Possessions in heavenly places are given by trading here on earth; we trade by following God’s purpose for us.”
These profound words from Prophet Isaiah Macwealth echoed through the walls of Gospel Pillars Church, a metropolitan church located in the heart of Lagos, Alausa, Ikeja, Nigeria, during a powerful midweek service as he delivered his message titled “Trading Wisely for Increase.” What a timely and impactful teaching this was! There’s so much to take away from the message, but one theme stood out above all—the importance of caring for our possessions because God expects us to protect what we have.
The Bible reminds us of this truth in Luke 16:10:
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
These words call us to manage every little blessing with integrity, as they lay the foundation for greater things to come. Prophet Isaiah spoke passionately about investments—not just in material things but in what truly builds us up for the future. He emphasized the importance of choosing the right opportunities and times to invest in our lives, because the decisions we make today shape the reality we experience tomorrow.
A key point that resonated with many, especially young professionals in the congregation, was his advice to invest in yourself. He highlighted that the best investment a person can make is in their own growth and development. Whether through gaining new skills, traveling to broaden your horizons, or simply pursuing knowledge, anything that builds your self-esteem is a step in the right direction. These investments ultimately lead to long-term success.
As usual, it was a wake-up call for the thousands gathered online and physically from different service centres across Lagos to recognize the value of personal growth and to be intentional about how we invest in our future. In a city like Ikeja, filled with a thriving community of young professionals, this message felt particularly relevant. Prophet Isaiah encouraged everyone to reflect on this thought-provoking exercise:
“What do you need now? Imagine the level you are now and where you want to be. Plan for it.”
